Today is the day before my commencement ceremony for my Bachelor's degree from American Military University. The ceremony is being held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Maryland - it's on the National Harbor. I will surely feel accomplished, and I am already remembering my unorthodox college kid lifestyle. Who else had to write term papers with a gun strapped on their hip?!
Further, I was accepted to every graduate institution except the National Intelligence University. Oh well, I was accepted to the school I was really interested in and will be attending this fall: Boston University. I am pursuing my Master's in Banking and Financial Services Management. I have become overly obsessive about the program, and I am doing all I can to prepare. For instance -
- I have a summer reading list to complete prior to starting the program. The texts include:
- Sears, The Indomitable Investor
- Murphy, Technical Analysis of Financial Markets
- Smith, The Wealth of Nations
- Friedman, Capitalism and Theory
- Keynes, The General Theory
- Franklin, The Way to Wealth and Other Writings on Finance
- Graham, The Intelligent Investor
- Hayek, The Road to Serfdom
It's your typical business or economics student reading list, containing books I probably should have already read. Nonetheless, I want to perform at an exceptional level. Plus, I still hope to pursue a top MBA in a few years.
For more preparation I have also enrolled in an open learning graduate level course offered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The course: Investments. I will have a busy finance filled summer.
